Food as Medicine – Amazing Results!
In people with IgG food allergy, their immune system creates an overabundance of antibodies against the food that can go into any tissue or organ and cause inflammation and multiple symptoms beginning a couple hours to several days later. Delayed food reactions can occur anywhere in our body and have been linked to over 150 different medical diseases. 70% of our immune system is in our GI (gastrointestinal) tract, and continually irritating it can have far ranging implications and problems.
There are a number of medical problems that can be related to food and resulting inflammation – including recurrent yeast infections, rashes and eczema, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, asthma and allergies, lactose intolerance (deficiency in the enzyme needed to digest milk or milk products), weight gain, abdominal pain and bloating, fatigue or weakness, cold sores, headaches or migraines, gas, diarrhea or constipation, irregular stools, depression, respiratory problems, more frequent infections and gland swelling, hair loss, acne, infertility, skin swelling and rashes, miscarriage, lupus, autoimmune disease, acid reflux, vitamin D deficiency, joint pain, muscle cramping, and more!
We have more bacteria in our GI system than we have cells in our body. This is the reason a good Probiotic (the good bacteria in our GI system) needs to be included in your daily supplements – best taken with water on an empty stomach so nightly is usually easiest. The daily exposure to allergic foods, pesticides, chemicals, antibiotics, and hormones in our foods or our medicines disrupt our normal GI flora. Replacing the good bacteria in the Probiotic (like our Orthomolecular Orthobiotic or Metagenics Ultraflora Plus) restores balance and decreases inflammation.
By discovering IgG delayed food allergies, many people can see tremendous improvement in long standing symptoms that have not responded to other treatments. There are some IgG blood tests that we can order from Mid America Clinical labs, or there is a large panel that we can order from Genova labs (they have good education on their website,www.gdx.net). The most common delayed food allergies are wheat/gluten/oats, milk/dairy, and eggs because they are so overused in our food supply. However some people can have an allergy to most any food.
Several more patients:
Richard: age 62 with chronic cough and asthma, hoarseness, allergies, heartburn, chronic fatigue – after his testing revealed significant allergy to wheat, dairy and eggs, ALL his symptoms went away after 1 week of avoiding these foods
Kendra: age 40, 285 pounds and unable to lose weight and fatigue (even with dedicated 60 minutes of exercise daily & 1200cal diet and daily journal , normal thyroid) – after testing showed wheat IgG allergy, Kendra has totally avoided wheat/gluten the past 18months — Kendra’s energy came quickly back and she has lost 75 pounds!
Beth: age 75 with chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis and severe daily pain – her pain decreased by at least 50% (and so did her pain medicine) by following the diet in the book “Foods That Fight Pain”
What to do?
Someone with no problems and feeling healthy:
rotate your diet and do not get stuck eating the same foods all the time, and work hard to avoid products containing refined flour or sugar
work to eat 7 servings of veggies/day, 2-3 fruits/day, plenty of healthy protein, different grains, and organic as much as possible (especially meats and dairy), and of course half your weight in ounces of water/day
take a good Probiotic (like our Orthobiotic or Ultraflora Plus 1 a day), plus your regular daily well absorbed multivitamin (our Alphabase), fish oil, vitamin D, and calcium especially for women
Someone with recurrent allergies, ADD/problems with focus, headaches, fatigue, weight problems despite low cal diet/exercise, pain, chronic problems:
do as above and the good Probiotic
make an appointment with Swathi or me, and we can review your problems and decide upon IgG testing
get our Core Restore weeklong Detox pack to help you start an elimination diet; and then if this has really helped and or you have significant food allergy, begin 1 – 6 months of a GI healing supplement (our Glutagenics or Inflammacore)
We must keep raising the awareness of allergy to foods AND how tremendously the food we eat has a direct impact on how we feel and our short and long term health!
Praise to God and keep learning!
